Sports Mole takes a look at five clubs that could sign Manchester United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Manchester United that he wants to leave the club this summer.

The 37-year-old's desire to continue playing Champions League football is thought to be the driving force behind his decision to inform the Red Devils that he is keen to seek pastures new.

Man United have allegedly reiterated that the Portugal international will not be leaving, with the attacker still having another 12 months left to run on his contract at the club.

However, the 20-time English champions could find it difficult to resist his exit in the coming weeks, and with that in mind, Sports Mole have identified five potential destinations for Ronaldo, who scored 24 goals and registered three assists in 37 outings for the Red Devils last term.

Bayern Munich

At this stage, there is allegedly not a serious interest from Bayern, but the German champions would surely be open to signing Ronaldo if Robert Lewandowski were to leave for Barcelona.

Bayern would be able to offer the Portuguese the chance to challenge for major trophies, and having enjoyed success in England, Italy and Spain, the chance to play in Germany before the end of his career could appeal.

Ronaldo's arrival could make the Bundesliga champions serious contenders for the Champions League next season, and they would also fancy their chances of winning another league title with the goalscoring machine at the tip of their attack, even with Lewandowski pushing to leave Allianz Arena.

Paris Saint-Germain

A switch to Paris Saint-Germain would only be a genuine possibility if Neymar were to leave this summer, and it is believed that the French champions are open to an exit for the Brazilian.

The chance to play alongside Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe would surely appeal to Ronaldo, and the capital outfit would be among the favourites for the Champions League next term if he were to arrive.

PSG have committed a huge salary to Mbappe, though, and the deal would have to make financial sense for the French champions.

Like Bayern, the Blues would also be able to offer Ronaldo the chance to boost his trophy cabinet before the end of his career and continue playing at the top level of European football.

Chelsea

Chelsea will be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer, with Romelu Lukaku on the verge of re-joining Inter Milan on loan for the 2022-23 campaign.

Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is believed to have recently met with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly, which led to a host of speculation surrounding a possible move to Stamford Bridge.

Man United would surely resist a sale to the Blues, but they have the financial power to pay Ronaldo what he would want to move to the capital outfit, and they also have Champions League football for next term.

Real Madrid

It would be some story if Real Madrid re-signed Ronaldo, five years after he left the club.

The Portugal international scored 450 goals in 438 appearances for Los Blancos during a hugely successful spell, winning two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and four Champions Leagues.

Carlo Ancelotti's side won a La Liga and Champions League double last term, and having made two strong signings this summer in the shape of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni, they will surely be up there once again next season in terms of the major trophies.

Karim Benzema enjoyed a stunning 2021-22 campaign, but Los Blancos are short of options at centre-forward, and a return for Ronaldo to the Spanish capital is certainly not impossible to imagine.

Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon are believed to have been in touch with Ronaldo's camp recently to register an interest in bringing the attacker back to the club this summer.

Ronaldo joined Sporting back in 1997, spending five years in their youth system before making his first-team debut for the Portuguese giants in 2002.

He went on to make 31 appearances for the club, scoring five times and registering six assists, before securing a move to Man United in 2003.

The Green and Whites will be in the Champions League next season, having finished second in Portugal's top flight last term, but it would be a surprise to see him return to the Lions at this stage due to his substantial wage demands and desire to continue playing at the highest level possible.
