Wayne Rooney returns to Everton's starting lineup for this evening's home match against former club Manchester United, as boss Sam Allardyce rings the changes.

Wayne Rooney has been recalled to Everton's starting lineup for this evening's Premier League match against former club Manchester United at Goodison Park.

The ex-Red Devil was given a 45-minute runout from the bench against Bournemouth last time out, having missed the Toffees' previous three matches through illness.

Yannick Bolasie is also handed a starting spot out wide after making a welcome return to action last week, while Nikola Vlasic is used from the off in a league game for the first time since October.

Home boss Sam Allardyce has made seven changes in all from the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, as Mason Holgate, Ashley Williams, Tom Davies and Oumar Niasse are also restored, the latter leading the line in the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In terms of the visiting side, manager Jose Mourinho has made three alterations to his starting lineup from the goalless draw with Southampton two days ago, including a return through the middle for forward Anthony Martial.

Marcos Rojo and Ander Herrera are the other two players to be welcomed back, taking over from the suspended Ashley Young and out-of-form Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

There is no place in the squad this evening for Romelu Lukaku, who became the latest United player to be ruled out of action when suffering a head injury against Southampton.

Everton: Pickford; Holgate, Williams, Keane, Martina; Davies, Schneiderlin, Vlasic, Rooney, Bolasie; Niasse
Subs: Robles, Kenny, Jagielka, McCarthy, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Calvert-Lewin

Manchester United: De Gea; Lindelof, Jones, Rojo, Shaw; Matic, Herrera, Mata, Pogba, Lingard; Martial
Subs: Romero, Blind, Darmian, Smalling, Tuanzebe, Mkhitaryan, Rashford
