On this day: Nottingham Forest end Manchester United's unbeaten home record

Nineteen years ago today, Nottingham Forest ceased Manchester United's 15-match unbeaten record at Old Trafford.

When Manchester United won consecutive Premier League titles in 1992-93 and 1993-94, a large reason behind such success was attributed to their home form.

The champions continued in similar fashion at the start of the 1994-95 campaign as they won their opening nine matches at Old Trafford. Taking into account their exploits during the previous term, it was a run that stretched back 15 contests in total.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side were expected to extend that sequence 19 years ago today when Nottingham Forest made the trip to Manchester. After all, the Tricky Tress had won just one of their previous seven encounters.

United started brightly, but it was the away side who broke the deadlock in the 35th minute courtesy of Stan Collymore, who also scored when the two teams had met at the City Ground back in August.

Bryan Roy picked him out and despite being under pressure from both Denis Irwin and Gary Pallister, the centre-forward powered an effort from 25 yards out beyond the reach of Gary Walsh in the home goal. It was the first goal scored by any opposition player at Old Trafford since the start of the season.

The hosts, with Mark Hughes and Eric Cantona up front, pushed for an equaliser after the restart, but their chances of salvaging a share of the spoils were dented with 62 minutes played.

United failed to fully clear a corner and they were punished when Stuart Pearce's strike from distance was deflected into the net.

The Red Devils rallied and reduced the arrears six minutes later when Cantona evaded his marker to flick in a Ryan Giggs corner at the near post.

However, it failed to spark a comeback as Frank Clark's visitors held out during the closing stages to become the first side to win away at United since March of that year.
