Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has lavished praise on Wayne Rooney after the Englishman scored the winner in his team's 2-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday.
Gylfi Sigurdsson cancelled out a header from Anthony Martial in the 71st minute as the two teams entered the latter stages all square in the clash at Old Trafford.
Rooney moved into second on the all-time scoring charts for both the Premier League and Man United in the 77th minute, however, when he flicked a Martial cross into the far corner.
"For me it was more important for someone to score today. It was a great goal, though, with his left foot behind his right foot you cannot imagine what a goal that is. And it came at the right moment, I think. I hope it can be a new starting point for us," Van Gaal is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
Man United have moved into fifth position in the Premier League table, two points off the top four.
