Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has called on Javier Hernandez to earn his spot back in the team following last season's loan spell at Real Madrid.
The Mexican forward has made just two competitive appearances under Van Gaal, but the Dutchman appears to be handing the 27-year-old a lifeline.
Reports have claimed that the Premier League giants will not sign a new striker this summer as Van Gaal is happy to stick with Wayne Rooney, young James Wilson and Hernandez.
"Javier can prove himself again and now [Radamel] Falcao and [Robin] van Persie are gone, his chances are better," the Daily Mail quotes Van Gaal as saying.
Hernandez joined United back in 2010.
