Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has been tipped for a return to Old Trafford in a coaching capacity.
Louis van Gaal is believed to be on the brink of joining the Red Devils as manager, and the Dutchman could convince his compatriot to join his coaching setup, according to Goal.com.
Van der Sar, who won multiple league titles and the Champions League during his time at United, was offered a coaching role by former boss Sir Alex Ferguson after calling time on his playing career, but turned down the offer to spend time with his family.
The ex-Holland international has since completed a masters degree in sports management and served as marketing director at Ajax, a club at which he spent time under the management of Van Gaal.
Van Gaal is also said to be keen to keep current United interim manager Ryan Giggs on as his deputy.
