Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists that Donny van de Beek will soon be provided with regular appearances in the starting lineup.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that Donny van de Beek will not have long to wait before being provided with a period in the starting lineup.

Despite his big-money move from Ajax during the summer transfer window, Van de Beek has been provided with just 61 minutes of action in the Premier League.

There are increasing calls for the Netherlands international to be handed more opportunities, and Solskjaer has suggested that the playmaker will be rewarded for the impact that he made off the substitutes' bench against Newcastle United.

The Norwegian is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "He'll get his game time. He's been fantastic in the group. I think you see today and in training, he's so neat and tidy, I don't think he lost the ball once.

"It's about finding the balance in the team. We've won 4-1 today and you're asking why I didn't start one of the players. He'll have a very good impact on the team."

United face games against Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea over the next seven days.
