Manchester United have reportedly offered Ryan Giggs a lesser role ahead of their expected managerial change.
The Welshman has spent the previous two seasons acting as the assistant to Louis van Gaal, who is expected to be officially relieved of his duties within the next 24 hours and be replaced by Jose Mourinho.
Speculation this afternoon claimed that the Red Devils had informed their former winger that they wanted him to remain a part of the setup at Old Trafford.
However, the Manchester Evening News has learned that the position in question is a downgrade on the responsibilities that the 42-year-old had under Van Gaal's management.
That has sparked suggestions on social media that Giggs has been asked to work with the club's Under-21 side.
