Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has revealed that emotions got the better of him when he discovered that he would be staying at the Bernabeu after his transfer deadline-day move to Manchester United fell through.
The 28-year-old was poised to switch to England as part of a deal that would involve United shot-stopper David de Gea signing for Madrid.
However, the deal collapsed at the last minute due to paperwork not being filed before the midnight deadline on August 31 in Spain.
Navas has insisted that he never wanted to leave the Bernabeu.
"I thought that if God wanted me to leave Madrid, it would be for the best, but he didn't want me to and I'm still here," Navas told COPE.
"I cried that night when I found out I was staying - it was a build-up of emotions. I didn't want to leave, Madrid is my home."
The Spanish giants are yet to concede a goal this season after five games.
