Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Angel di Maria missed his flight to join up with his teammates in the USA for the club's pre-season tour.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with reports suggesting that he is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Di Maria has added further fuel to the speculation of his departure after Van Gaal revealed that the Argentine was not on his flight to link up with the team in San Jose.
"I have heard he is not on the plane," Van Gaal told reporters. "Marcos Rojo was also not on the plane. He had passport issues. For Di Maria, I don't know why."
Di Maria joined United last year for a fee of £59.7m from Real Madrid.
