Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt is reportedly in the running to be named the club's academy head coach.
A new position has been created at Old Trafford following the departure of youth chief Brian McClair.
Butt, who is one of the 'Class of '92' graduates, has been working with the youth setup in recent weeks, but according to the Daily Mail, the 40-year-old could be promoted into a role to oversee all of United's academy teams.
Should he take the job, Butt, who previously worked as the assistant to United Under-21 boss Warren Joyce, will have to report directly to first-team manager Louis van Gaal.
The North-West club are believed to be concerned that not enough talent is coming through the youth ranks.
