Bayern president slams Manchester United's treatment of Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that Manchester United may struggle to sign players in the future because of their treatment of Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hit out at Manchester United for banishing Bastian Schweinsteiger from the first team.

It is believed that the German World Cup winner has been training with the reserves at Old Trafford after failing to make Jose Mourinho's pre-season squad.

The 32-year-old, who was signed by former United manager Louis van Gaal in 2015, spent 15 years playing for Bayern's senior team and won eight Bundesliga titles, seven DFB-Pokal trophies and the Champions League.

Rummenigge has claimed that United's treatment of the midfielder could cause potential recruits to question joining the Premier League giants.

"I could hardly believe it," the Bayern president told Bild. "One or two players are going to think long and hard in future about whether they want to go to such a club. Nothing like that has ever happened at Bayern Munich."

Meanwhile, Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out the possibility of Schweinsteiger returning to the Allianz Arena.
