Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: 'Bayern Munich unlikely to bid for Leroy Sane'

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hints that the German champions will not attempt to sign Manchester City target Leroy Sane from Schalke this summer.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hinted that the club will not attempt to sign Leroy Sane from Schalke 04 this summer.

Sane has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Manchester City recently, but reports earlier this week suggested that Bayern could look to enter the race for the highly-rated 20-year-old.

However, Rummenigge does not believe that he would be able to offer him regular first-team football at the Allianz Arena and distanced the German champions from making a bid.

"I think it is always important that young players get the chance to play regularly, and I don't know if we could offer him that," Rummenigge told Germany's ZDF television.

"Furthermore, we would be accused once again of taking players away from other German clubs and maybe he wouldn't even be playing.

"A young player has got to make his mind up whether he wants to plan his career from a sporting or a financial viewpoint."

Schalke are thought to be holding out for an offer of around £45m for the Germany international.
