MK Dons winger Danny Green is hoping that a hamstring complaint does not keep him out of tomorrow's "dream" League Cup tie against Manchester United.
Growing up on the books at Charlton Athletic, the 26-year-old was an avid supporter of the Red Devils, with David Beckham, who like Green was a right-winger during his playing days, his hero.
He still retains a strong interest in the 20-time champions of England, so, when his League One employers were paired with United in the second round of the competition, he was delighted.
"It's the one team that I wanted to play out of the whole draw. Obviously, Charlton, who are one of my old teams, were in there as well, but Man United is the one that I really wanted," he told Sports Mole.
"For me personally it would have been ideal if the game was at Old Trafford, but for our supporters to have United coming down to the Stadium:mk is unbelievable. It's brilliant for the club financially as well."
With regards to his injury, Green has vowed to do everything he can to ensure that he is able to feature at some point tomorrow night.
"It's a bit touch and go. If I can train [today], hopefully I will be involved. I'm trying to do all that I can to play because it's a dream match," he added.
Even taking into consideration United's slow start to the new Premier League season - having picked up one point from a possible six - and the fact that manager Louis van Gaal is expected to give a number of youngsters a chance to prove their worth, the bookmakers regard the Dons as rank outsiders to advance through to round three.
However, Green has insisted that there is no reason why Karl Robinson's men cannot pull off an upset.
"We had Coventry at the weekend and like United they play a 3-5-2 formation, so it was interesting to see how we adapted to that," said the number seven.
"We're ready for United and although people always say this, it's 11 vs. 11 on the pitch and anything can happen. The gaffer will play our best team I'm sure and we'll be prepared."
MK Dons are currently seventh in League One, having won half of their four encounters so far this term.
