Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward reportedly chairs an emergency meeting with angry Red Devils players over European Super League plans.

Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward was reportedly met with an angry response from Red Devils players over the club's involvement in the European Super League.

Man United - along with fellow 'Big Six' clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur - have all signed up as founding members of the new breakaway continental competition.

The proposals have been met with widespread condemnation, however, with several professionals at clubs not involved in the plans expressing their displeasure on social media.

According to the Daily Mail, Woodward chaired an emergency meeting with Man United players to address their concerns over the proposals, but the squad's response was lukewarm at best.

The players were said to be furious at finding out about the plans from social media than via the club itself, and the report adds that they were also unhappy about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being left to face questions from the media.

While no players from the 12 clubs involved have directly spoken out in favour of or against the competition, Man United playmaker Bruno Fernandes appeared to voice his disdain with the words "Dreams can't be bought" on Instagram.
