Samir Nasri: 'My choice to join Sevilla'

Manchester City attacker Samir Nasri insists that it was his own choice to leave the Etihad for Sevilla on transfer deadline day.

Samir Nasri has insisted that it was his choice to leave Manchester City for Sevilla on transfer deadline day.

The Frenchman completed a loan move to the Estadio Ramon on Wednesday and it had been claimed that new Man City boss Pep Guardiola had told the attacker that he would not be part of the first-team picture at the Etihad this season.

However, according to Nasri, it was his own choice to join Sevilla, a club he has branded "a team with a lot of quality and a great coach".

"Guardiola tried to make me stay but I told him that I wanted to leave and play regular first-team football," Nasri told reporters. "Sevilla are a team with a lot of quality and a great a coach who likes to keep the ball and press, a game I think will suit me. I want to be adaptable in this team - I can play on the left or the right, or even as a false nine."

Nasri, who started his professional career at Marseille before making the move to Arsenal, joined Man City in the summer of 2011 and has won two Premier League titles during his time at the Etihad.
