Manchester City will reportedly not make a fresh bid to bring in Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City when the transfer window opens this summer.

Manchester City have reportedly decided not to make a fresh bid for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez when the transfer window opens this summer.

The 26-year-old emerged as a top target for the Premier League leaders in the final days of January, prompting the player to issue a transfer request in an attempt to force the move through.

City are said to have made a £60m bid for the Algerian but were rejected by the Foxes, who instead demanded an alleged fee of £95m in order to agree to the deal.

Mahrez has since failed to return to Leicester and is said to be "very depressed" about the situation - and according to The Mirror, City have now ruled out making another move this summer.

The newspaper says that Pep Guardiola has "major concerns" about the way Mahrez has reacted to the failed move and "will now look elsewhere" in his hunt for new attacking options.

Mahrez cost Leicester just £450,000 when he joined the club from French side Le Havre in 2014.
