Manchester City have reportedly set aside £50m to make a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The 27-year-old played under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona and moved to the Allianz Arena in the same summer as the Catalan coach.
According to the Daily Mail, the Man City boss is seeking fresh legs to bolster his midfield, with David Silva, Fernandinho and Yaya Toure all in their thirties.
The report claims that Guardiola is eager to bring Thiago, with whom he has a superb working relationship, to the Etihad Stadium.
Thiago, a Spain international, is under contract at Bayern until 2021 and was part of the team that reached the Champions League semi-finals last week.
