Vincent Kompany hoping to loan two Manchester City players

Vincent Kompany's assistant at Anderlecht, Simon Davies, says that the club will look to exploit the player's links with Manchester City.

New Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany is planning to take two players from former club Manchester City on loan this season.

The 33-year-old brought an end to his 11-year stay at the Etihad last month when he made the surprise decision to take up a player-coach role with his boyhood club in Belgium.

Kompany's assistant Simon Davies has admitted that the side are now looking to make use of his past connections and have the aim of bringing in a couple of City players for the next campaign.

"We'll try and sign some additions, not always as easy as it sounds but there's a way we want to do that and it will happen in time," Davies told reporters at a press conference on Monday.

"There's lots of players up for consideration and there's an awful lot of business to be done that will happen in time.

"I know all the people at Manchester [City] and they send players out all the time, it's part of the business, and for us to experience and to have one or two of the players - it's going to be possible to do that if it's right for everybody."

Among Anderlecht's rumoured targets is teenage midfielder Matt Smith, who spent last season on loan with FC Twente.
