Manuel Pellegrini: 'Every club wants Pep Guardiola as their manager'

Manuel Pellegrini insists that he was never fazed by Pep Guardiola being linked with his job, saying that every club would like the Bayern Munich boss at their club.

Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that every club would like Pep Guardiola as their manager, and insisted that he was never fazed when the Bayern Munich boss was linked with his job last season.

The Manchester City boss's future was put in doubt last season after the club finished second, failing to defend the Premier League crown.

However, the Chilean manager recently extended his contract with the club until 2017 but admits that his future is still unclear at the club.

"You can sign for 10 years and four months after you are sacked! When the two parts are happy you can extend. The owners are happy in the way we are working, I am happy so we know about the future," the 61-year-old told reporters.

"Of course Pep Guardiola is a manager every team will want to manage them. Maybe he's more linked to this team because of Txiki [Begiristain, City's sporting director]. So no problem with my relations inside the club.

"I was used, last season, to the speculation. Ancelotti supposedly had a pre-contract signed and Jurgen Klopp had also a contract. I know what they think about that. I know what happened with that thing."

City begin their new Premier League campaign against West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening.
