Manuel Pellegrini: 'Manchester City play to final whistle'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini suggests that his side deserve their 2-1 Premier League victory over Norwich City because they played to the final whistle.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that his side deserved their 2-1 victory over Norwich City this afternoon because they played to the final whistle.

The Citizens took the lead in the second half through Nicolas Otamendi, only for Joe Hart to gift the Canaries an equaliser with 10 minutes remaining. A late Yaya Toure penalty restored City's lead, but Pellegrini admits that Norwich were tough opposition for his side.

"It really was an extraordinary game because I think that Norwich played very well, they defended the game with 100% concentration, and the chances that we create we missed," Pellegrini told Sky Sports News. "We scored the goal from Nicolas Otamendi that opened them up a little bit more, but after that unfortunately Joe allowed them to score.

"But I think that the last 10 minutes the most important thing for my team - we have the character, the personality, the trust to go game after game. We are not finished until the last minute because we are always sure that we can score another goal.

"I think that today we were very focused and concentrated on this game, but we were not clear to try to produce more chances, to create more space to the merit of Norwich."

City will take on Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
