Jose Mourinho confident he will be given time at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho insists that he is confident that he will be given time to turn Chelsea's fortunes around after the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is still confident that he will be given the time to turn the club's fortunes around after the 3-1 home defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

Two goals from Philippe Coutinho and Christian Benteke's third condemned the Premier League champions to their sixth defeat of the season from just 11 games and left them 15th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone.

With media speculation about the Portuguese manager's future intensifying in recent weeks, the latest defeat has only served to increase the doubts over whether Mourinho will be allowed to continue at Stamford Bridge.

However, the 52-year-old is confident that he will be given time to improve results in his second spell in charge.

"There were things out of our control, two minutes extra time in the first half and we concede in the third," he told Sky Sports News. "Then in the second half there were some crucial moments that the stadium sees, and the players more than saw - they feel it.

"I take comfort from the fans' backing but what feeds me is not just the supporters but also the recognition of our work. I have some players that are really sad in the dressing room and I am full of respect for them.

"Now I go home and try to watch some of the rugby and try to disconnect a little bit from this and then I will start preparing the training sessions for tomorrow. No I do not think that this was my last match here and yes I think that I will be given the time to turn it around."

Chelsea next face a home tie with Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday.
