Roberto Mancini insists that Vincent Kompany knows that his behaviour with regards to the Belgium national team was wrong.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has insisted that captain Vincent Kompany is fully aware that he made a mistake by putting his international commitments before his club.

The Italian boss criticised the centre-back for representing Belgium over the international break following a lengthy stint on the sidelines with a calf injury.

When asked if he had spoken to Kompany since his comments, Goal.com quotes Mancini as saying: "No, for what? Vinny knows that his behaviour was not good."

Kompany returned to the City side to score in their 4-0 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.
