Manchester City could fine Kolo Toure over drugs ban

Kolo Toure will contest Manchester City if fined after disciplinary hearing.

Manchester City are considering taking action against Kolo Toure after they were forced to hand him a six-month suspension over a failed drugs test, according to The Independent.

The North West club could fine the former Arsenal defender for causing his own downfall, which resulted in the lengthy absence.

The 30-year-old is expected to stand before the club's football executive Brian Marwood in an internal disciplinary panel next week. However, the defender plans to contest the ruling if he is charged after the hearing.

"Kolo is disappointed that the club have decided to take this stance and he will contest any planned action against him," said Saif Rubie, Toure's agent.

"However, he will continue to give his all, as always, for Roberto Mancini and the team in their quest for honours this season."

Toure was banned for six months after being found guilty of taking a banned substance, which he claimed aided weight loss.
