Manchester City are targeting Ajax manager Frank de Boer to replace Roberto Mancini if he leaves at the end of the season, according to a report.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer is the top choice to replace Roberto Mancini at Manchester City if he leaves the club at the end of the season, according to a report.

Following his failure in the Champions League and all but losing the Premier League title race to Manchester United this campaign, Mancini's position is under threat at City.

De Boer has been targeted by the club's chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain to replace the Italian, reports The Mirror.

The 42-year-old has won Eredivisie twice since taking over at Ajax in 2010 and is closing in on a third success.
