Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has described Daniel Sturridge's move to the club as the "last chance" for the striker to make an impact in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old completed a £12m transfer from Chelsea on Wednesday and he was in the crowd to watch his new teammates beat Sunderland 3-0 at Anfield later that night.
"He has got quality," Rodgers told Sky Sports News. "If he wants to stay at this level, this is probably his last chance.
"The biggest thing is hunger. We are bringing in a player who knows he has to perform as he will be playing with one of the biggest clubs in the world."
Sturridge is expected to be named in the Liverpool squad for Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie at Mansfield Town.
