Liverpool co-owner John Henry has dismissed reports that he is planning to sell the Boston Red Sox.
Reports in the US suggested that the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) was about to offload the baseball team in a deal worth $1 billion, a notion that Henry has called "completely without foundation".
"A sale of any kind is so far from our thinking it hasn't even come up, apart from technical planning issues involving death or disability," The Sun quotes the Liverpool owner as saying.
"This report is completely without foundation. Any sale discussions that may have taken place were missing three key people - Red Sox president and chief executive Larry Lucchino, chairman Tom Werner and me.
"The Sox and any of the other components of FSG are not for sale and will not be for the foreseeable future."
Henry has previously likened the task of returning Liverpool to its former glory to the one he faced when FSG first acquired the Boston Red Sox.
