Phil Jagielka laments Everton's Merseyside derby form

Everton captain Phil Jagielka laments the side's 15-year winless run at the home of fierce rivals Liverpool.

Phil Jagielka has lamented Everton's Merseyside derby record at Anfield and said that he is looking to turn their form around when they travel to local rivals Liverpool this weekend.

The Blues haven't won at the home of the Reds for 15 years and were hammered 4-0 on their last visit back in January.

The Toffees captain admitted that he hasn't always enjoyed his trips across Stanley Park but said that he is looking to rectify the situation this Saturday lunchtime.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Last season as you can imagine there wasn't much said on that journey [home]. You're talking about a lot of angry people and miserable faces.

"That's what you'd expect from any defeat let alone the heavy defeat we had to our arch rivals. When you are made captain you want to look at a decent win percentage. You want to see the team score more goals and keep more clean sheets.

"I've been desperate to win every time we've been to Anfield, we all have been. So then the results we've had, and how quiet the bus has been afterwards, is not a nice feeling. As far as memories go I haven't had the best ones but I want to go and create some positive ones now."

Roberto Martinez's side are currently 14th in the Premier League.
