Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish hopes to avoid becoming the victim of another Carling Cup giant-slaying as he prepares his side to face Exeter tonight (Wednesday).
The Reds were knocked out of the tournament last season by Northampton, while four Premier League sides fell to lower-league competition last night.
Dalglish has admitted that there will be changes to the side that beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates on Saturday, but also believes that Exeter should not be underestimated.
"We want to do the very best we can in this competition and although there will be some changes in the personnel we put out, the attitude should be exactly the same as it was on Saturday," he told the official Liverpool website.
"It's not a game we just want to go through the motions for and fulfill our obligations in playing the fixture - we want to make sure we have a chance.
"We're not getting them (other players) involved because we're undermining the competition or we're undermining the football club at Exeter."
Liverpool suffered a shock exit in the Cup last year at the hands of Northampton in a third-round penalty shoot-out.
