Brendan Rodgers: 'Daniel Sturridge out for three weeks'

Brendan Rodgers confirms that Liverpool could be without Daniel Sturridge for up to three weeks due to a thigh injury.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that striker Daniel Sturridge is facing a three-week layoff through injury.

The England international injured his thigh while training with the Three Lions last week, and Rodgers admits that the news is "disappointing".

"It could be up to three weeks, which is obviously disappointing," he told the club's official website.

Consequently, Sturridge could miss the rest of the month, fixtures which include the Reds' Champions League clash with Ludogorets Razgrad on Tuesday and the Merseyside derby with Everton on September 27.

Emre Can, meanwhile, could be poised for a longer stint on the sidelines after he picked up an ankle injury with Germany Under-21s.
