Liverpool fail to break down Bolton Wanderers in 0-0 draw

Bolton Wanderers force an FA Cup fourth-round replay against Liverpool by holding the Reds to a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Liverpool failed to take their chances and had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup fourth round today.

Despite Bolton's fast start, Adam Bogdan was forced into a couple of early saves to prevent both Jordan Henderson and Phillipe Coutinho from scoring.

The Championship side almost took a surprise lead shortly after when Dean Moxey's long-range effort flew inches past the post.

In the second half, Liverpool applied more pressure and Bogdan was called upon to stop Raheem Sterling, while Javier Manquilo missed from close range.

As Liverpool pushed forward, Bolton looked dangerous up the other end and Eidur Gudjohnsen was guilty of missing two great chances from inside the box.

The Trotters were almost made to pay by Fabio Borini, who forced Bogdan into an acrobatic save with a curling effort, before he glanced the post with a header in injury time.

Bolton survived Liverpool's late flurry of attacks to take the Reds back to the Macron Stadium for a replay in February.
