Alberto Moreno: 'FA Cup win the perfect end for Steven Gerrard'

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno believes that an FA Cup win would be the "perfect present" for departing skipper Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno thinks that an FA Cup win would be the "perfect present" for the departing Steven Gerrard.

The Reds skipper will leave Anfield in July for Los Angeles Galaxy, and with the FA Cup final due to be played on Gerrard's 35th birthday on May 30, Moreno believes that winning the trophy would be the ideal way for the long-serving captain to sign off at Anfield.

He told The Telegraph: "Since I was a boy I have watched Steven playing and now I have had the absolute fortune of not just being able to share a dressing room with him but to play and train alongside him.

"As a kid growing up he was one of my idols and this opportunity to play alongside him is something that I am never going to forget. It is something that will remain with me forever.

"It will be the perfect present for him, wouldn't it? To be able to leave the club with a trophy under his belt, that would be fantastic for Steven. But not just for him, it would be a great thing for the team and for the fans as well."

Brendan Rodgers's side host Blackburn Rovers in the quarter-finals of the competition on Sunday.
