Leeds United captain Jonny Howson reveals that he is keen to test himself in the Premier League.

Leeds United captain Jonny Howson has revealed that his "ambition" is to play in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old's current contract at Elland Road expires in the summer and he has been linked with numerous moves away from the club.

However, the midfielder has claimed that he is keen to reach the top flight with Leeds.

"It's not just about being a local boy, any professional's ambition is to play at the top level," Howson told The People.

"I am no different and my ambition is to get Leeds United in the Premier League. That is not just my aim, it is that of the management, the backroom staff and all the players."

Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers have both been credited with an interest in the Leeds-born player.
