Goals from Omar Gonzalez, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane ensure a 3-1 comeback win for Los Angeles Galaxy against Houston Dynamo in the MLS Cup final.

Los Angeles Galaxy have won the MLS Cup with a 3-1 comeback victory over Houston Dynamo in the final.

Houston started the game brightly, with Ricardo Clark forcing Josh Saunders into a save inside the first minute.

However, Galaxy improved as the half progressed and should have been ahead when Robbie Keane delivered the ball into the area after being picked out by David Beckham, but Landon Donovan somehow shot wide from close range.

Beckham then found Mike Magee with a brilliant cross but the midfielder headed the ball into the ground and over the crossbar.

Kogi Sarkodie threatened to open the scoring on the half-hour mark following a storming run through the heart of the Galaxy defence but Saunders reacted well to keep out the defender's shot.

Houston finished the first half the better of the two sides and were rewarded for their pressure when Calen Carr fired the ball past Saunders at the near post to give the Dynamo a deserved lead at half-time.

Galaxy thought that they had restored parity in the 48th minute when Keane found the target, but his effort was ruled out because of offside.

However, the Los Angeles outfit did equalise on the hour mark when Omar Gonzalez headed home Juninho's cross.

Three minutes later Keane had another strike disallowed for a foul committed by Gonzalez in the build-up to the goal.

Moments later Bruce Arena's side were awarded a penalty as Clark was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his area.

Donovan stepped up to take the spot kick and made no mistake from 12 yards to make it 2-1 to his side.

Galaxy were awarded another penalty in injury time for Tally Hall's foul on Keane, and the Irish striker himself converted the spot kick that won the MLS Cup for Galaxy and gave Beckham a fitting farewell.
