Ipswich Town loan Elliott Hewitt to Colchester United

Ipswich Town send young right-back Elliott Hewitt on loan to Colchester United until November 2.

Young Ipswich Town right-back Elliott Hewitt has dropped down a division to join Colchester United on loan.

Hewitt, 20, joins nearby Colchester in League One from Championship side Ipswich until November 2.

"He's a good young player who will help us move forward in the next month," U's boss Tony Humes told the club website.

Hewitt could make his debut for Colchester in tomorrow night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Gillingham, a club for who he made 20 appearances on loan last season.

He is the second player to sign for Colchester today after the short-term arrival of David Fox.
