Inter Milan have announced the signing of Brazilian left-back Carlos Augusto on an initial loan deal.
The 24-year-old joins from Monza with an option to buy, which will become an obligation if certain performance-related objectives are hit during the 2023-24 campaign.
Inter will reportedly pay Monza €13m (£11.1m) should Augusto's deal become permanent next year, and he follows Marcus Thuram, Juan Cuadrado, Yann Sommer, Kristjan Asllani, Davide Frattesi and Yann Aurel Bisseck to San Siro for the upcoming campaign.
Augusto came through the youth system at Corinthians before joining Monza in a €4.2m (£3.6m) deal in 2020, and the 1999-born defender has posted 12 goals and 11 assists in 107 games for the club since.
Augusto was an integral member of Monza's 2021-22 promotion-winning squad and also made a name for himself in Serie A last season, scoring six goals and registering five assists in 35 appearances.
The South American - who can also play as a centre-back and left midfielder - made six appearances for Brazil's Under-20 squad in 2019 but is yet to make his senior Selecao debut.
Augusto's maiden appearance in Inter colours could come against parent club Monza in Saturday evening's Serie A opener at San Siro.
