Following another weekend of Championship action, in which only one side could maintain their winning start, Sports Mole looks back at who stood out to earn a place in our Team of the Week.
Simon Moore (Cardiff City)
The 25-year-old, who is still a rookie by goalkeeper standards, may have conceded two goals in his side's 2-2 away draw at Queens Park Rangers, but he deserves huge credit for the way he bounced back from last week's howler. The David Marshall stand-in produced a couple of top-class saves at Loftus Road, which acted as a springboard for the Bluebirds to grab a late leveller.
Bruno Saltor (Brighton & Hove Albion)
The attack-minded full-back laid on an assist for teammate Sam Baldock, while also setting up Beram Kayal who came close to adding his own name to the scoresheet. Brighton have made a quick start to the campaign, becoming the only side in the division to take maximum points from their first two games.
Curtis Davies (Hull City)
Davies was one of many Hull players to drop below his previous high standards at the KC Stadium last season, but he is already showing signs that he is returning to his best form. A man-of-the-match showing against Huddersfield Town last weekend was followed by a solid performance in the 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers, which included an early off-the-line clearance.
Bailey Wright (Preston North End)
Two games, two clean sheets for the centre-back who appears to be blossoming at this level. Preston produced a fine opening-weekend performance to keep Middlesbrough at bay, while it was a similar case against a side they love playing against in MK Dons on Saturday. The Australia international may become the subject of a bid from elsewhere in the coming weeks.
Craig Forsyth (Derby County)
Forsyth provided numerous attacking runs down the flank for Derby in their weekend draw against Charlton, offering some width to the flowing moves. Derby still need to create more in front of goal, however, having only managed to get six attempts on target in this one.
Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough)
The performance of the weekend award goes to Boro, who have numerous contenders for a place in this side. First up is Downing, a man who was completely shackled out of the game by Preston's defence on his return to the club. It was a different story against a hapless Bolton Wanderers, though, with plenty of creativity and discipline coming from both him and Grant Leadbitter.
Paul Gallagher (Preston North End)
A first goal since Easter Monday from Gallagher was enough to earn Preston their first victory back at this level. In both their league fixtures to date the gameplan has been spot on by boss Simon Grayson, hinting at a potential push for the top half as this season progresses.
Albert Adomah (Middlesbrough)
A horror afternoon for Bolton's defenders was little improved by the relentless Adomah, who continued to harass Wanderers' backline. Boro may very well go one better than last season if this performance, rather than last weekend's at Deepdale, is anything to go by.
Andre Gray (Brentford)
Speculation over a move to Hull City will not stop until the transfer window closes, but all Gray can do at the moment is continue to score and create. The forward did exactly that in an entertaining clash at Ashton Gate, scoring one, assisting one and laying on three chances for his teammates.
Kike (Middlesbrough)
Middlesbrough's forward players may have been slow off the mark judging by that aforementioned stalemate at Preston on matchday one, yet there is no denying that they found their groove this time out. Patrick Bamford may no longer be around, but with David Nugent, Christian Stuani and two-goal Kike vying for a place, Aitor Karanka appears to be spoiled for choice.
Diego Fabbrini (Middlesbrough)
Speaking of which, fellow Boro attacker Fabbrini quickly won over the hearts of those inside the Riverside by producing arguably the standout performance of the weekend. The on-loan Watford man rifled one into the top corner from 25 yards out to kick things off for the Smoggies, before pushing on in what he described as a "perfect" display.
Numpty of the Week
Allan McGregor (Hull City)
All the pre-match talk ahead of Hull's meeting with Wolves concerned Kenny Jackett's decision to leave out Carl Ikeme in place of loanee Emiliano Martinez. It was a howler from opposition keeper McGregor which made the headlines after the match, however, as the Scotland international allowed a tame cross to slip through his fingers which James Henry subsequently tapped home.
Goal of the Week
Scott Malone (Cardiff City) vs. Queens Park Rangers
For the second weekend running, Cardiff managed to rescue themselves a point late on thanks to a superb individual effort. Last week it was Craig Noone, while on this occasion full-back Malone belted home on the half-volley to earn his side a share of the spoils at Loftus Road with his first goal for the club.
