Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hull City share points at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw in their match against Hull City at Molineux in the Championship.

Wolverhampton Wanderers had to come from behind to share a 1-1 draw with Hull City in their Championship clash at Molineux this afternoon.

Wolves looked the more likely early on as Nouha Dicko picked up a loose ball in the box, but he sliced his shot well high from the edge of the six-yard box.

Despite the bright start by the home side, it was Hull who opened the scoring when Curtis Davies was brought down by a Kortney Hause challenge in the penalty area, leaving Nikica Jelavic to fire in the spot.

Kenny Jackett's side could have been level just a couple of minutes later as Conor Coady carved out some space 25 yards out before blasting a shot at the Hull goal, but Allan McGregor did enough to keep it out, before David Edwards failed to get a final touch after Dicko headed across the six-yard box.

Hull finished the first half strongly though as they attempted to double their lead before the break, but Tom Huddlestone fired straight at on-loan goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, before Chuba Akpom was denied by his Arsenal teammate while attempting to chip the keeper.

Wolves dominated the possession at the start of the second half in a bid to get back on level terms, but Afobe had a shot blocked by Davies, while James Henry smashed the ball high.

Henry was involved again shortly before the hour mark as Dicko crossed the ball through to the midfielder, who watched the delivery slip through McGregor's fingers before being left with a simple tap in.

Hull soon started to see more of the ball as they attempted to restore their lead, but Huddlestone could only put the ball on the roof of the net from a free kick, before David Meyler was denied by Martinez.

The away side were denied by the woodwork soon after as Jelavic battled to the edge of the box before pulling the ball back for Akpom, but he could not squeeze his finish inside the post.

Sone Aluko came off the bench to give Hull some fresh legs late on, bursting through the middle before looking to set up Jelavic, but the Croatian was unable to get his shot away.

Akpom continued to create problems for the Wolves defence throughout the final moments of the match, but Martinez did enough to deny him a winner as he attempted to slice it in from a tight angle.

The result leaves both sides with four points from their first two matches of the new season.
