Godoy Cruz will be looking to continue their unbeaten streak when they welcome Platense to Estadio Victor Antonio Legrotaglie in the Argentine Primera Division on Wednesday evening.
The hosts are currently unbeaten in nine home matches, while Platense will be hoping to bounce back from a narrow defeat at home last time out.
Match preview
Godoy extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to three matches on Sunday with a 1-1 draw against Talleres at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba.
Michael Santos opened the scoring for the hosts to give them a first-half lead, but Godoz responded well in the second period, with Tadeo Allende netting an equaliser in the 83rd minute to force a share of the spoils.
Cruz have won their last four matches on home soil, with their most recent league success in front of their own fans being a 4-0 thrashing of Boca Juniors on June 23.
Daniel Oldra's men currently sit ninth in the Primera Division standings, and they could move to as high as sixth with a victory on Wednesday evening.
After not managing to finish inside the top 10 of the division in the last four campaigns, it appears that Godoy could be on for one of their better terms of the past decade.
Platense's inconsistency continued on Friday night with a 1-0 home loss against Lanus, with Matias Esquivel netting the only goal of the match for Frank Kudelka's charges.
The Calamar are aiming for a top-half finish in the Primera Division for the first time since their promotion from the second tier in the 2020-21 term, and with six games to play the team have given themselves a good chance to achieve their goal.
Martin Palermo's men are 14th in the Primera Division standings ahead of a midweek trip to Godoy Cruz, although 24th-placed Union are only six points behind in what is a very competitive region of the league.
Nicolas Servetto has been the main source of goals for Platense this season, with the 27-year-old stepping up to the plate in the top flight with six goals following two prolific campaigns in the second tier.
Team News
Godoy will be without the services of centre-back Gianluca Ferrari in Wednesday's contest, with the 26-year-old suffering a cruciate ligament injury in February which is set to keep him sidelined until October.
An even longer-term absentee for the hosts is midfielder Silvio Ulariaga who is out until December with the same issue as Ferrari - the youngster has featured six times for Cruz since making his debut in December 2020.
Platense right-back Raul Lozano is set to out for a few weeks after picking up a muscle injury, meaning Nicolas Morgantini will continue on the right side of the visitors' defence.
Veteran striker Mauro Quiroga failed to make a significant impact during his 74 minutes on the pitch in the loss against Lanus last time out, so top scorer Servetto could return to the starting XI in this one.
Godoy Cruz possible starting lineup:
D Rodriguez; Arce, Barrios, Rasmussen, Gladames; Sosa, Abrego, Fernandez, Lopez, Allende; S Rodriguez
Platense possible starting lineup:
Macagno; Morgantini, Vazquez, Suso, Infante; Martinez, Diaz, Castro, Marcich, Taborda; Servetto
We say: Godoy Cruz 1-0 Platense
Godoy have enjoyed a good recent run of form, and they should be confident of taking their momentum into a home match against Platense this Wednesday.
The Calamar are enduring an inconsistent spell at the moment, and we feel they will be edged out narrowly at Estadio Victor Antonio Legrotaglie in this one.
