Fulham began their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 win over Costa Rican side C.S. Cartagines, thanks to a brace from Dimitar Berbatov.
The Cottagers took the lead in the 35th minute as Damien Duff raided down the left on a counter-attack and found the Bulgaria international in the penalty area, and he made no mistake in slotting the ball into the net.
Berbatov doubled his tally from the penalty spot minutes later as John Arne Riise was brought down in the box. The former Manchester United striker fired the ball into the bottom corner, sending keeper Wardy Alfaro the wrong way.
New Fulham goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg was brought on in the second half and made an impact with a brilliant save to deny Felix Montoya getting a goal back for his side from a free kick.
Martin Jol's team made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute as Hugo Rodallega teed up Bryan Ruiz, who blasted the ball into the net on his return to his home country to seal the win for his side.
