Paul Scharner is to make his first start for Hamburg against Freiburg away from home in the Bundesliga this afternoon.

Paul Scharner has been handed his full debut for Hamburg against Freiburg in the Bundesliga this afternoon.

The 32-year-old, who joined HSV in the summer, will make his first start for Thorsten Fink's side and will replace defender Michael Mancienne, who is suffering from flu.

Freiburg's Johannes Flum too misses out because of the flu, but midfielder Daniel Calgiuri has recovered to make the starting lineup for the hosts.
