Everton confirm new three-and-a-half year Bryan Oviedo deal

Costa Rican full-back Bryan Oviedo signs a new three-and-a-half year contract with Premier League side Everton.

Left-back Bryan Oviedo has signed a new three-and-a-half year contract with Everton.

The Costa Rican was due to be out of contract this summer, but has now extended his stay until the end of the 2018-19 season after initially triggering a 12-month extension due to appearances made.

Oviedo is fully fit now having recovered from a broken leg suffered two years ago which kept him on the sidelines for an extended period.

"When I experienced some really tough times, the toughest of my career, everybody was behind me – the manager, the staff, the players and the fans and that support helped me through and made me stronger, as a person and as a player," he told the club website.

"I feel that I am in the best moment of my career. I am experienced now. When I first came here I was 22 years old and now I am 25 ... 26 next week! I have greater confidence and I have a real ambition to win a trophy for Everton.

"We have clear goals as a team. We want to win a cup and we want to continue building ourselves into a top Premier League team."

Everton boss Roberto Martinez said today that Muhamed Besic is also expected to extend his contract at Goodison Park.
