Everton boss David Moyes has said that Ross Barkley can benefit from Landon Donovan's return to Goodison Park.
Donovan, who spent time at the club in 2010, has agreed to return to Everton on a two-month loan from January.
Speaking after 18-year-old Barkley agreed a four-year deal to remain on Merseyside, Moyes insisted that his young midfielder could learn from the United States international.
"Ross is for the long-term future of the club and part of the building blocks that we're putting in place," he said. "He will learn from being around someone like Landon, from his style of professionalism.
"Being around good players helps. Training with them every day and being around them is important for the young boys."
Meanwhile, Everton welcome Norwich to Goodison Park this afternoon.
