Brendan Galloway elated with "special" Everton debut

Everton defender Brendan Galloway admits that it was a dream for him to make his debut for the Toffees in their 2-1 victory over West Ham United at Upton Park.

Everton defender Brendan Galloway has revealed his elation over making his first-team debut for the Toffees in their 2-1 victory over West Ham United on Saturday.

The 19-year-old, who replaced the injured Leighton Baines in the starting lineup at Upton Park, admitted that his day was made extra "special" when Romelu Lukaku fired a stoppage-time winner to clinch the three points for Roberto Martinez's men.

"I've worked hard all season and to get rewarded like this is what dreams are made of," Galloway told the club's official website.

"I found out at 1.30pm when the manager named the team. I wasn't expecting it. I worked hard in training this week but I didn't expect to be given the nod, but when I did I was really happy and looking forward to it.

"I thought the team did really well. It was important to get the win and to do it at the end made it more special."

Everton moved above the Hammers into 10th place in the Premier League table as a result of their victory.
