Everton's Tim Cahill believes that the club's push for silverware is long overdue following their 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Sunderland.

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has expressed his belief that the club can make a serious push for silverware following their 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Sunderland.

The Toffees now face the prospect of a Cup semi-final against Merseyside rivals Liverpool, who have already won one trophy this season, but Cahill believes that the Blues' turn to taste silverware is long overdue.

"Regardless of Liverpool I think it was all about us today. The manager knows what we're capable of and it's about time we did something like this, and hopefully we're going to move forward," Cahill told ITV.

Cahill also praised the impact that Nikica Jelavic has had on the side, adding: "He's changed a lot of our games - he's someone who can hold the ball up and score goals. It helps a hell of a lot."

Everton's last major trophy came when they beat Manchester United in the 1995 FA Cup final. They last appeared in the final in 2009, losing 2-1 to Chelsea.
