Sunderland 0-2 Everton

Everton set up an FA Cup semi-final meeting with rivals Liverpool after beating Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light.

Everton will face Merseyside rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-finals after securing a 2-0 victory over Sunderland in their last-eight replay at the Stadium of Light tonight.

The Toffees opened the scoring on 24 minutes courtesy of Nikica Jelavic, who was a one-time Sunderland transfer target.

A Black Cats free kick broke down and Everton capitalised with a fine counter-attacking move. Maroaune Fellaini broke forward and found Magaye Gueye, who fired the ball across the six-yard box for Jelavic to slot home calmly.

David Moyes's side then moved a step closer to a date at Wembley when David Vaughan put into his own net.

The former Blackpool player had only just arrived on the pitch, but his first action was to bundle the ball past his own keeper Simon Mignolet, who had just saved well from Jelavic.

From then on Everton were in control as Sunderland failed to convert ball possession into clear-cut chances.

The all-Merseyside semi-final, which will be the pair's first meeting at Wembley since 1989, will take place on April 14.
