England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed that he is yet to pick his captain for the 2018 World Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur pair Harry Kane and Eric Dier are both believed to be in the running alongside Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson.
Southgate has revealed that he wants "six or seven captains in the team", but will have a think about his chosen skipper for this summer's tournament when the squad gets together this weekend.
"We've been through a process of developing leaders in the group, more voices in meetings and not feel it's the captain who is the only one who can make decisions and speak first," Southgate told reporters.
"When we get together we'll speak about that in more detail. When we've been more successful like in '96 we had six or seven captains in the team. We get together on Sunday and can think about it then."
England will take on Nigeria and Costa Rica in friendlies ahead of their opening match of the World Cup against Tunisia on June 18.
