Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in bringing Derby manager Nigel Clough back to the City Ground to replace Steve McClaren.
Forest are expected to seek permission to speak to the Rams boss, who is the son of former Forest manager and club legend Brian Clough, with a view to a return to the club where he started his career as a teenager, according to The Mirror.
It is understood that the 45-year-old could be interested in the job, despite Forest's current position in comparison to high-flying rivals Derby.
Furthermore, Forest could offer the former star more financial backing to reach the Premier League than his current club.
Compensation is not believed to be an issue for Forest, as Clough has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Pride Park.
