Chelsea reportedly tell Juventus that they will not let manager Maurizio Sarri leave the club until their compensation demands are met.

Chelsea have reportedly told Juventus that they will not let Maurizio Sarri leave the club until their compensation demands are met.

The 60-year-old is understood to have asked to leave Stamford Bridge in order to secure a return to Italy, where he began his managerial career and most notably spent a successful three-year spell in charge of Napoli.

Sarri has reportedly agreed terms on a £6.2m-a-year contract with Italian champions Juventus, who are in the market for a new boss following Massimiliano Allegri's exit.

Juve were hopeful of securing Sarri without paying compensation, but Calciomercato claims that Chelsea will not budge on their asking price and have no intention of allowing him to leave if those demands are not met.

Sarri still has two years remaining on his £5m-a-year contract at Chelsea and are aware that it could cost as much as £3.1m to prise proposed successor Frank Lampard away from Derby County.

Juventus director Fabio Paratici has flown to London in an attempt to thrash out terms, but Chelsea are in no rush to conclude a deal.

The Blues went through a similar compensation argument with Antonio Conte last summer, when the Italian's exit was not officially confirmed until after pre-season had begun despite a deal to bring Sarri to the club having already been agreed.
