Lyon 'reject opening bid from Chelsea for Moussa Dembele'

Lyon turn down a £34m bid from Chelsea for French forward Moussa Dembele, according to a report.

Lyon have reportedly turned down a £34m bid from Chelsea for French forward Moussa Dembele.

The 23-year-old, who has scored 10 times in 25 appearances for his Ligue 1 side during the 2019-20 campaign, is believed to be a target for the Blues during this month's transfer window.

According to footmercato, Frank Lampard's side approached Lyon with a £34m offer, but the bid was quickly rejected with the French outfit not prepared to sell the forward in January.

The report claims that Chelsea are likely to hold more talks over a transfer, though, with the capital side seemingly determined to sign a new attacker before the end of the month.

Dembele, who has also previously been linked with Manchester United, has scored 30 times in total for his current club since arriving from Celtic in the summer of 2018.

The former Fulham youngster has a contract with Les Gones until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
